The Big Cogs were all shaken to our cores with the tragic and sudden loss of Eddie Hirst who was fatally injured in an accident whilst out on a solo ride on Monday 7th April.
Eddie was a keen and active member of The Big Cogs (and Holmfirth Cycling Club … and anyone else who would ride with him on his days off !). A lovely lad who always had a positive outlook and a smile on his face – he will be sorely missed.
Unfortunately, his funeral is taking place on Friday 16th May when we will be cycling into Belgium on our tour but we will all be stopping by the roadside at the time of the funeral to pay our respects and remember Eddie.
A ‘ride for Eddie’ later in the year is also in the planning.
Our love and deepest condolences go out to Katie, Ashley, Joe, Adrian and the rest of Eddie’s family.
Rest in Peace Eddie and thanks from all of us for your companionship over the years 🚴♀💔
