Fatigue starting to tell now, and the temperature dropping too after yesterday’s glorious sunshine.
An earlier roll out with 83 miles on the menu, our last day of significant length.
First stop after 25 miles was the Bridge At Remagen, a famous cross of the Rhine by the allies in WW2. I think by the end of the day everyone knew the story as I was asked about it 20 times. WW2 history is my thing, but not many others it seems!
Our 2nd stop was a pizza restaurant near Bonn. The drivers had got there before and they were all ready to sit down to on arrival. Perfect!
A third stop on 70 miles followed, at a pub of course. A cheeky Kolsh just what we needed for the final leg into Dusseldorf, and the rather heavy (but safe) traffic to our hotel.
A traditional German brew house was the venue for the evening. Plenty of Düsseldorf’s wonderful Altbier and another substantial meal. A few more beers, and somehow a few were tempted into a Lucas Podolski kebab to finish the night off. ????
I didn’t, but there were some great reviews at breakfast the following morning.
