Return Leg – WOW that’s that done!

Want to start by saying a massive thank you to all of you who have supported us with sponsorship as we’ve nearly totalled £13,000 for the 2 fabulous charities and with some match funding to come – that’s just amazing. ❤️

We had some additional sponsors on the way back home which were just beautiful surprise too. More on those later…

Thank you also to our families at home who all stuck with us through training and us been away, and finally to the riders and van drivers. It’s been a great adventure to share with you all and you’ve all been ace 👍

So the ferry back was a nice trip over and possibly even the Cogs had run out of steam as it was tame evening by recent standards 😔. Some not looking forward to what looked like a day of wind and rain on our travel back.

We got off the ferry about 9am and in the first 500 meters through passport control, Andy had a big pop and a 2 inch nail through his tyre 🤨 welcome home!

It was blustery on the dock as we met the van to set up for the day. Final depart picture and we were off. Safely through Hull and out to the South Cave area as we made good progress.

The first mini stop was about 25 miles the van had stopped at a services which had a Greggs 😆 so the team were straight in there…

Whilst we were there, a worker Frank in the car park, started asking us what we’d been doing and he said he was a keen cyclist and had through social media somehow seen some of our posts and been following us😳. How strange but cool at the same time. Then when we returned home he’d sponsored up £50 too. What a top gent!

Then pushing on and closer to home we stopped for lunch at the Hidden Tearoom in Kellingley and had a bite to eat. It’s a place the team often visit on weekend rides and again the owner very generously donated £60. Just amazing that they get gripped by what we’ve done and want to help out the charities. Xx

We were then firmly on home ground and a 25 mile ride home through Featherstone and Wakey – all getting very familiar.

Then, when we’d just glimpsed the Mast literally seconds earlier as we were 6 miles from home in Crigglestone, Rob got a flat tyre 😤. He knew he shouldn’t have praised the bike the day before!

We had said if anyone had a flat on final section and it was pouring down we’d put it in the van and get home. Thankful it was dry and the lads were all happy to wait to get sorted so he could ride back. Thanks to Lee for his top help too as tyre master. 🙏

So we made it home to an unexpected mini welcome committee at the White Horse which Nicks family, the Filaks and also Gemma. Great to see them.

Then finally back to Thorncliffe and more family to meet us as we rode down from the Mast together.

We’d done it!!!
